White

White

White Burgundy remains the global benchmark for Chardonnay. Here, the grape is never defined by oak or winemaking alone, but by terroir—subtle differences in limestone, clay, elevation and exposition that create some of the world's most recognisable white wines. The Côte de Beaune forms the heart of this landscape, where neighbouring villages can produce remarkably different expressions despite being separated by only a few hundred metres.

Puligny-Montrachet is the benchmark for elegance and precision. Its limestone-rich soils and perfectly exposed slopes produce wines of remarkable tension, citrus purity and saline minerality. Chardonnay here is linear and refined, combining concentration with extraordinary freshness and ageing potential. Producers such as Joseph Pascal, Joseph Colin and Domaine de la Vougeraie showcase why Puligny-Montrachet is considered one of the greatest white wine appellations in the world.

Chassagne-Montrachet offers a broader, more generous interpretation of Chardonnay. While sharing the same limestone foundation as Puligny, its higher proportion of clay produces wines with greater texture, ripe orchard fruit and subtle hazelnut notes, balanced by Burgundian freshness. Joseph Colin captures the appellation's combination of richness and precision.

Meursault is renowned for its depth and texture. Clay-limestone soils create wines with layers of ripe apple, citrus, toasted nuts and buttered brioche, supported by a broad, silky palate rather than sharp acidity alone. The finest examples, such as those produced by Joseph Pascal and Camille & Guillaume Boillot, remain remarkably mineral despite their generosity and evolve beautifully over decades.

Saint-Aubin has become one of Burgundy's most exciting appellations. Located immediately above Puligny and Chassagne on cooler, higher-elevation slopes, it delivers wines with vibrant acidity, pronounced minerality and exceptional precision. Often offering a similar limestone-driven character to its famous neighbours, Saint-Aubin represents outstanding value while retaining impressive ageing potential.

Auxey-Duresses remains one of Burgundy's hidden gems. Situated west of Meursault in a cooler valley, it produces Chardonnay with lively acidity, white flowers, citrus and pronounced mineral freshness. Compared with Meursault, the wines are more restrained and linear, making them particularly appealing for those seeking elegance over richness.

Santenay, the southern gateway to the Côte de Beaune, has gained increasing recognition for white wines of freshness and balance. Limestone and marl soils produce Chardonnay with bright citrus fruit, floral aromatics and a vibrant mineral backbone, often offering excellent value while retaining the unmistakable character of southern Burgundy.

Vougeot, although best known for its legendary red wines, also produces a small quantity of highly distinctive white Chardonnay. The limestone and clay soils of the Côte de Nuits create wines with greater structure and tension than many Côte de Beaune appellations, combining concentrated citrus fruit, chalky minerality and remarkable longevity. Domaine de la Vougeraie demonstrates how rare and compelling white Vougeot can be.

Our Burgundy collection brings together producers including Joseph Pascal, Domaine de la Vougeraie, Bertrand Bachelet, Joseph Colin and Camille & Guillaume Boillot—each expressing a different facet of Burgundy through meticulous vineyard work and a profound respect for terroir. Together they demonstrate that White Burgundy is not a single style, but a mosaic of villages, each revealing its own interpretation of Chardonnay through geology, climate and generations of winemaking tradition.
