Côte des Blancs

Côte des Blancs

Côte des Blancs is the spiritual home of Chardonnay and one of the world's greatest white wine terroirs. Stretching south from Épernay, this narrow strip of Champagne is defined by deep Cretaceous chalk soils that store water, reflect heat and give the wines their unmistakable freshness, chalky minerality and extraordinary ageing potential. Blanc de Blancs from Côte des Blancs are celebrated for their precision, elegance and ability to evolve gracefully for decades.

The region is home to some of Champagne's most prestigious villages. Le Mesnil-sur-Oger is renowned for producing the most linear, mineral and age-worthy expressions of Chardonnay. Cramant offers a slightly broader and creamier style while maintaining remarkable finesse. Avize combines power with elegance, delivering wines of exceptional balance, and Oger contributes greater generosity and ripe fruit without sacrificing the hallmark chalk-driven freshness. Together, these Grand Cru villages form the heart of Côte des Blancs and represent the benchmark for Blanc de Blancs worldwide.

Our collection showcases these exceptional terroirs through some of Champagne's most respected grower-producers. Dhondt-Grellet explores both Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards, crafting terroir-focused Blanc de Blancs from Cramant and single-vineyard sites that emphasise purity, precision and remarkable longevity. Aurore Casanova expresses the richness and elegance of Oger Grand Cru through refined, mineral-driven Chardonnay. Robert Moncuit, one of the historic specialists of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, produces classic Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs that beautifully capture the village's signature chalky tension and ageing potential. Girard-Bonnet works across the great villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Oger, highlighting the subtle differences between each Grand Cru through low-intervention winemaking and a deep commitment to Chardonnay.

Together, these growers demonstrate why Côte des Blancs remains the benchmark for Blanc de Blancs Champagne. While they share the same grape variety and chalk soils, each village reveals a distinct personality, proving that even within a few kilometres, terroir remains the defining element of great Champagne.
