Van Zellers & Co Reserva Tawny

Style:

A classic aged Tawny Port, focused on smoothness, nuttiness, and oxidative complexity. Softer and more rounded than Ruby Port, less intense than a 10–20 Year Tawny, yet very accessible and elegant.

Vineyard:

Located in the Douro Valley, mainly in the Rio Torto and Pinhão valleys. Vineyards are planted on classic schist soils in a warm continental climate, providing concentration, richness, and a classic Port structure.

Winery:

Produced using traditional foot treading in lagares and fortified with grape spirit. Aged in very old oak casks for approximately 6–7 years, developing oxidative complexity and smooth texture.

Nose:
Dried figs, plums, nuts, caramel, and toffee.

Van Zellers & Co

Van Zellers & Co is a historic Douro house revived in 2006 by Cristiano van Zeller, a 14th-generation member of one of the region’s most respected wine families. With roots in the Douro dating back to the 17th century, the project continues a long tradition while embracing a modern, quality-focused approach.

Working with old vineyards and traditional field blends, Van Zellers & Co focuses on expressing the depth and complexity of the Douro through both still wines and Ports. The philosophy combines respect for heritage with careful, low-intervention winemaking to preserve authenticity and balance.

Production remains relatively small and terroir-driven, with wines that are structured, elegant, and built for ageing. Van Zellers & Co represents a refined and contemporary expression of classic Douro winemaking, rooted in history yet firmly focused on the future.
