Vadio

Vadio is a small, family-run project based in the village of Poutena in Portugal’s Bairrada region, founded in 2005 by winemaker Luís Patrão together with his wife Eduarda Dias. Built on just around 10 hectares of vineyards divided into many small parcels, the estate is deeply rooted in the recovery and preservation of Bairrada’s traditional grape varieties, especially Baga.

The philosophy is clear: to craft authentic DOC Bairrada wines that reflect the region’s Atlantic climate, clay-limestone soils, and distinctive identity. Farming is thoughtful and increasingly ecological, with a focus on biodiversity and long-term sustainability in the vineyards.

In the cellar, the approach is simple and precise, using native fermentations and gentle extraction to highlight purity and freshness. The wines are classic yet vibrant - defined by energy, structure, and a strong sense of place - making Vadio one of the most compelling modern voices in Bairrada.
