Luis Seabra Xisto Cru Branco 2023 Magnum 1,5 L

Style:
A precise and mineral-driven Douro white, combining freshness with structure and depth. Elegant and complex, with strong terroir expression and aging potential.

Vineyard:
Located in the Douro Valley, sourced from old vines planted on schist (“xisto”) soils. Higher-altitude vineyards and poor soils ensure low yields, preserving acidity and enhancing minerality and concentration.

Winery:
Hand-harvested grapes, whole-bunch pressed and fermented with native yeasts. Aged in neutral oak with extended lees contact, adding texture while maintaining purity and balance.

Nose/Palate:

Citrus, stone fruit, floral notes, and mineral hints on the nose, followed by a medium-bodied palate with vibrant acidity, textured mineral-driven character, citrus and orchard fruit flavors, subtle oak and lees influence, and a long, precise, elegant finish.

Luís Seabra

Luís Seabra Vinhos is one of the leading voices of the “New Portugal” movement, founded by Luís Seabra in 2013 after a long career shaping modern Douro wines. A trained viticulturist and former winemaker at Niepoort, Seabra set out to create a more personal, terroir-driven expression of Portuguese wine, focused on freshness, balance, and authenticity.

Working across regions such as Douro, Dão, and Vinho Verde, he sources fruit from old, often high-altitude vineyards, with some vines exceeding 100 years of age. His philosophy is firmly rooted in minimal intervention - native fermentations, careful élevage, and a deep respect for the natural character of each site.

Production remains relatively small, with a strong focus on site-specific cuvées that highlight soil, altitude, and traditional grape varieties. The wines are precise, elegant, and mineral-driven, offering a refined and modern interpretation of Portugal’s historic vineyards.
