Fitapreta Trincadeira-das-Pratas 2024

Style:

A fresh and elegant white, focused on purity, vibrancy, and varietal expression. Light yet structured, with a clean and balanced profile.

Vineyard:

Located in Alentejo, in the historic Chão dos Eremitas vineyard at the southern foot of Serra d’Ossa. Planted in 1970 at 256–267 m altitude, the vines grow on granitoid soils with a strong presence of active limestone, contributing to freshness and structure. This unique site, influenced by natural water sources, has a documented winemaking history dating back to the 14th century, with evidence of viticulture in the area for over 3,000 years.

Winery:

Hand-harvested grapes, whole-bunch pressed and fermented with native yeasts. Vinified mainly in stainless steel to preserve freshness, with short lees aging for added texture and balance.

Production:

~3300 bottles

Nose/Palate:

Citrus, green apple, white flowers, and delicate herbal notes on the nose, followed by a light to medium-bodied palate with vibrant acidity, clean structure, citrus and orchard fruit flavors, subtle herbal and mineral nuances, and a fresh, persistent finish.

Fitapreta

Fitapreta is a dynamic, modern winery based in Alentejo, founded by winemaker António Maçanita with a mission to rediscover and reinterpret the region’s historic identity. Working from a restored 14th-century estate near Évora, the project blends deep research into ancient vineyards and indigenous grape varieties with a fresh, innovative approach.

Fitapreta focuses on reviving old field blends, traditional winemaking techniques, and forgotten local grapes, while farming with care and precision to reflect the diversity of Alentejo’s terroir. In the cellar, the philosophy is flexible and experimental - combining modern methods with ancestral practices such as fermentation in clay amphorae.

The wines are vibrant, characterful, and distinctly different from the region’s more conventional style - showing freshness, structure, and a strong sense of place. Fitapreta stands out as one of the most exciting contemporary voices in Alentejo, bridging heritage and innovation.
