Winery

Biodynamically farmed grapes, hand-harvested and carefully sorted. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak barrels (partially new), enhancing complexity, structure, and integration.

Nose/Palate

Black cherry, blackberry, violet, spice, and earthy notes on the nose, followed by a full-bodied palate with firm refined tannins, vibrant acidity, layers of dark fruit, spice and mineral nuances, and a long, structured, elegant finish.

Corton is one of the most important appellations of the Côte de Beaune, centred around the famous Corton hill, where the vineyards form one of Burgundy’s most distinctive Grand Cru landscapes. The hill is unique in the Côte d’Or for producing exceptional wines from both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The vineyards rise across a broad south- and south-east-facing slope, with significant variations in altitude, exposure and soil depth. Limestone and marl dominate the hill, while deeper clay-rich soils in certain areas provide the structure and concentration that distinguish Corton’s wines.

Corton is particularly famous for powerful, age-worthy Pinot Noir, generally showing more structure and depth than many other Côte de Beaune reds. Typical aromas include black cherry, red plum, raspberry, violet and spice, with earthy and savoury complexity developing with age.

The hill also contains the legendary Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, producing some of Burgundy’s most profound Chardonnay. These white wines combine ripe citrus and stone fruit with intense limestone minerality, concentration and remarkable ageing potential.

Among the most celebrated Pinot Noir climats are Le Clos du Roi, Les Bressandes and Les Grandes Lollières, each offering a distinctive interpretation of the Corton hill.

Le Clos du Roi is one of the most prestigious climats of Corton Grand Cru, situated on the historic Corton hill in the Côte de Beaune. Its name, meaning “The King’s Clos,” reflects the site’s long-standing reputation and historical importance.

The vineyard’s limestone, marl and clay-rich soils, combined with favourable south- and south-east-facing exposure, provide ideal conditions for Pinot Noir. The site is known for producing wines with exceptional depth, structure and mineral character.

Corton Le Clos du Roi typically shows black cherry, raspberry, red plum and violet, accompanied by subtle spice, earthy and savoury notes. With age, the wine develops greater complexity and tertiary aromas while retaining its freshness.

On the palate, it is powerful yet refined, with concentrated fruit, firm but polished tannins and vibrant acidity. The mineral backbone gives the wine energy and a long, persistent finish.

2023 was a warm, generous and expressive vintage in Corton, producing Pinot Noir with ripe fruit, impressive concentration and an attractive balance between richness and freshness. The growing season provided excellent ripening conditions, while Corton’s limestone-rich soils preserved mineral tension and structure.

The wines show ripe red and black cherry, raspberry, plum and violet, with subtle spice and savoury complexity. The palate is generous and textured, supported by fine tannins, fresh acidity and the distinctive mineral backbone of the Corton hill.

Compared with cooler vintages, 2023 is more open, fruit-driven and immediately approachable, while the best Grand Cru examples retain the structure and depth required for long ageing.
