Clandestin Boréal 22 Blanc de Noirs is a natural, low-intervention Champagne from Côte des Bar, showcasing the purity and energy of Pinot Noir grown on Kimmeridgian soils. Ideal for those who appreciate precise, mineral, and zero-dosage Champagnes with character.

Vineyard

Sourced from vineyards around Landreville. The soils are predominantly Kimmeridgian limestone (a mix of limestone and clay), similar to those found in Chablis, giving the wine both structure and a distinctive mineral character.

The climate is slightly warmer than northern Champagne, allowing full ripening of Pinot Noir while maintaining freshness. Farming is organic/biodynamic with a strong focus on terroir expression.

 Winery

Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts, primarily in neutral vessels (stainless steel and/or used oak), to preserve purity and site expression. No fining or filtration.

The wine is aged on lees for an extended period, contributing texture and complexity.

Dosage: 0 g/l (Brut Nature – no added sugar)

 Nose / Palate

Nose: red berries (wild strawberry, cranberry), citrus peel, herbal notes, and a subtle earthy/mineral edge.

Palate:

dry and very precise
vibrant acidity
fine, energetic mousse
layered with red fruit, citrus, and saline minerality
long, clean, slightly savory finish

Clandestin

Champagne Clandestin is a small, highly distinctive Champagne project founded by Benoît Doussot, a Burgundian outsider who brought a fresh perspective to the region. Launched in 2015-2016 without family vineyards, Clandestin works as a micro-négociant, sourcing organically farmed grapes from a network of growers in the Côte des Bar to highlight the untapped potential of this terroir.

Driven by a strong focus on site and exposition, each cuvée is built around specific parcels and soil types, often separating north- and south-facing vineyards to express their differences with precision. In the cellar, the approach is resolutely minimal - spontaneous fermentations, barrel ageing, and zero-dosage bottlings allow the wines to remain pure, textured, and transparent to their origin.

Production is small and highly focused, resulting in Champagnes that feel both experimental and deeply terroir-driven. Clandestin stands out as a modern, boundary-pushing voice in Champagne - combining Burgundian sensibility with the raw, mineral energy of the Aube.
