Puisieulx Premier Cru
Puisieulx is a historic village of the Montagne de Reims, located south-east of Reims and part of the area known as the Grande Montagne de Reims. It is particularly associated with Pinot Noir, which benefits from the village’s chalk-rich soils and favourable exposures.
The village has a long viticultural history, and its vineyards have traditionally been valued for producing structured yet elegant Pinot Noir. The chalk soils of the Montagne de Reims provide drainage, freshness and mineral tension, while the warmer exposures help the grapes reach good phenolic maturity.
Puisieulx Pinot Noir typically shows red cherry, raspberry, plum and subtle spice, with a firm but refined structure. Compared with the more powerful Pinot Noir of some central Montagne de Reims villages, Puisieulx can show a more lifted, precise and mineral character.
The village is also interesting for Chardonnay. Although Pinot Noir remains important, Chardonnay from Puisieulx can display citrus, white flowers and chalky freshness, offering a more delicate interpretation of the Montagne de Reims terroir.
